Bio
Rommy Sandhu is a New York City based Director-Choreographer and educator. Having served as Associate Director/Choreographer/Dance Captain to Tony Award winning director/choreographers Kathleen Marshall, Susan Stroman, and Matthew Bourne, his work and insight have been sought after across the country and the UK.
In New York City, Rommy most recently collaborated with Kathleen Marshall on the revival of The Unsinkable Molly Brown starring Beth Malone. Additionally, he was Dick Scanlan’s Associate on New York City Center’s acclaimed production of Little Shop of Horrors (starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Ellen Greene and Taran Killam).
His work has been performed by such talents as Corbin Blue (Singing In The Rain -The MUNY), Ann Harada (Christmas Eve with Christmas Eve), Cady Huffman (BCEFA), Laura Michelle Kelly (54 Below), Sherie Rene Scott and Norbert Leo Butz (Two-Hander). Selected as a Dancebreak Foundation “Choreographer to Watch”, Rommy’s regional directing and/or choreography credits span from coast to coast including the US regional premiers of Mary Poppins and Sister Act.
As a performer, his Broadway credits include Mary Poppins, Bombay Dreams, Oklahoma!, On The Town, The Life, Sweet Charity in Concert, A Christmas Carol, Sondheim 75, Annie Get Your Gun (w/Bernadette Peters and Reba McEntyre), and national tours of Carousel, Kiss Me Kate, Evita, and Dreamgirls (w/Jennifer Holliday). On television he has appeared on SMASH, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Today Show, Live with Regis and Kelly, The View, and numerous Tony Awards shows. Rommy is on the guest faculty for ONSTAGE New York and is currently on the Musical Theater Faculty for Marymount Manhattan College.
